Homecoming Parade & Pep Rally
Decorate the Float & Join the Parade!
This year's Westside Homecoming theme is "Under the Sea" and Oakdale will be participating with a float! Our "Tank the Bulldogs" float will be a fish tank full of wonderful sea creatures. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for younger students and/or those with mobility restrictions to fully participate by catching a ride instead of walking the full route. Get creative and dress as your favorite sea creature! The Parade and Pep Rally will be on September 27th, starting at 6:30 PM.
Float Decoration - You can help!
Supplies are needed to decorate the float. Donations are easy - simply purchase from the Amazon wishlist and have the items delivered directly to the coordinator - be sure they will arrive by Monday, September 25th. Examples include pool noodles, large cardboard boxes, small round plastic laundry baskets, clear latex balloons, etc.
Gather to create decorations for the float Tuesday, September 26th from 5:00 -7:00 PM in the outdoor classroom at Oakdale (let us know to expect you by signing up the volunteer form). Those unable to join on the 26th are welcome to DIY - create a fish or sea creature to "float" in our "tank". Bring your decorations to the parade and we'll add them to our "school". Your student could also create a poster to carry throughout the parade (half of a poster board with a handle would work well). Posters can be used in the parade and pep rally to cheer on our defending state champs!
Float Assembly will take place the day of the parade September 27th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Countryside Village Parking Lot (old Starbucks location). There's also a volunteer form for this opportunity - fill it out to let us know you're coming.
Parade Details
We'll meet at 6:15 PM in the main parking lot at Westside High School. Dress like a Sea Creature or in Oakdale spirit wear. Seats on the float will first be offered to students with mobility restrictions then to younger students who may be unable to walk the full route. Remaining seats will be first come first serve.
The parade will begin at 6:30 PM using the traditional route throughout the neighborhood by Westside High School. If you'd rather watch the procession find a spot along the route to cheer on our Oakdale students as they pass by.
The pep rally will take place at Phelps Field on the Westside High School campus at approximately 7:30 PM after the parade ends.
